HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – A $5 million grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs would support the Hudson Food Pantry Program, including the establishment of a new food pantry in Bayonne.
The grant would also assist in engaging communities by establishing collaboration among organizations such as non-profits, religious institutions, and government agencies currently serving vulnerable communities.
If awarded the funding, Hudson County would begin a process to create a streamlined data system that would consolidate data. A system will be established to provide equal quantities of food resources to residents based on their family size, with residents visiting the pantry being required to provide very limited information and data being maintained in a secure way.
The proposed food pantry in Bayonne would occupy a newly renovated and reconstructed 6150 square foot building, capable of serving the nearby food insecure populations. The pantry would include dry food shelving, refrigeration units, freezers, food sorting, stocking areas to streamline food storage and distribution.
