In order to highlight these offerings, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy paid a visit to the HCST facilities located on the campus of Bayonne High School on Monday, noting that a wide range of programs, ranging from culinary arts to real estate, and many in between, are offered at all of the HCTS campuses.

The visit was part of Guy’s ongoing efforts to support career training and economic growth, and provided him, as well as other elected officials, an opportunity to engage with students enrolled in Advanced Electricity and Plumbing programs.

“Hudson Technical is a key part of our strategy to provide residents with the tools they need to succeed in the modern workforce,” said Guy. “By offering hands-on training and certifications in industries like construction, skilled trades, business, real estate and technical fields, we’re not only investing in individual careers, but also contributing to the growth and vitality of our local economy. It’s essential that we continue to expand these programs to ensure Hudson County remains competitive and resilient.”

Guy was joined by U.S. Representative Rob Menendez (NJ-08), Assemblyman Will Sampson (D-31), Assemblywoman Barbara McCann-Stamato (D-31), Hudson County Commissioner Ken Kopacz and Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis at the event.

HCST Board of Trustees President John Minella, Trustees Denise C. D’Alessandro and Joseph Cossolini, HCST Superintendent Amy Lin-Rodriguez, and other district officials were also present for the tour.

“It’s critical that we embrace expanded workforce development throughout the communities we represent,” Menendez said. “Hudson Technical is showcasing the impact of these efforts, providing powerful educational opportunities in the trades, technology, and construction throughout our community. I couldn’t be more proud of the work that the students and faculty are doing day after day, and I remain committed to partnering with them to ensure their continued success.”

During the tour, Guy’s group observed live demonstrations in electricity and automotive repair, where students were engaged in practical, hands-on training. He spoke with students about their career aspirations and asked whether the programs at Hudson Technical are helping them achieve their goals.

“We’re dedicated to ensuring that every student who walks through our doors has access to high-quality, real-world training that leads to meaningful employment opportunities,” Rodriguez. “By aligning our programs with industry standards and workforce needs, we’re equipping students with skills that are in high demand. Today’s visit reinforces our commitment to preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.”

Paul Dhaniram and Kylie Hall, both seniors in the Audio/Visual program at County Prep High School and media interns at Hudson Technical, were also on hand to capture the County Executive’s visit. Their involvement highlights the strong connection between HCST’s academic and technical training, as well as the valuable hands-on experience students gain in their chosen fields, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications in their chosen fields.

“Programs like those offered at Hudson Technical are vital for the continued success of Hudson County,” said Hudson Technical Supervisor Justyna Flynn. “Our students are learning from experienced professionals who help them acquire the technical skills that employers are looking for. We’re proud of the work we’re doing here to support both career advancement and the overall economic growth of our community.”

The event, officials said, underscored Hudson County’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible career training opportunities that meet the needs of both local businesses and jobseekers. As workforce demands continue to evolve, initiatives like those offered at Hudson Technical play a crucial role in creating pathways to success.
